Product Overview
COLOREX™ StrepACG is a selective chromogenic culture medium intended for use in the qualitative direct detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of Streptococcus pyogenes (group A Streptococcus, GAS), and group C/G streptococci to aid in the diagnosis of throat infections.
The test is performed with throat swabs. Results can be interpreted after 18-24 h of incubation at 35-37 °C under CO2 atmosphere. Concomitant cultures are necessary to recover organisms for further microbiological testing or epidemiological typing.
A lack of growth or the absence of colonies on COLOREX™ StrepACG does not preclude the presence of GAS, group C and G streptococci. COLOREX™ StrepACG is not intended to diagnose infection nor to guide or monitor treatment for infections.
MEDIUM PERFORMANCE
- UNIQUE CULTURE MEDIUM: Only culture medium that allows differentiation between Streptococcus pyogenes and
Streptococcus dysgalactiae. - HIGH CONTRAST: Intense colony coloration helping to differentiate species and mixed cultures.
- EASY INTERPRETATION: On blood agar, some beta-hemolytic streptococci produce a weak haemolysis and are difficult to read. With COLOREX™ StrepACG, these streptococci are colored in orange to red / dark purple to brown.
- EASY TO USE: The medium can be inoculated directly with a swab.
